Urban memory and psychological architecture
Multi-layered oil paintings developed through extended intervals and deliberate mark accumulation. Each work investigates how memory and place materialize through patient, methodical surface building— where the process itself becomes the subject.

Artist Statement
“I investigate how urban environments and psychological states materialize through the physical properties of oil paint. Working in Washington, D.C., I build richly layered surfaces over weeks and months—each layer nearly drying before returning to scrape, fade, and accumulate new marks. This extended process creates a visual archaeology where the duration of making becomes visible, and forms negotiate between figuration and atmospheric dissolution.”
— Samuel S. Hernandez
